Monike Lisboa

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together"

Monike Lisboa is the founder of Phoenix Arts Community Hub and a passionate believer in the power of creativity to build confidence, connection and belonging.

Her passion for the performing arts began at a very early age through acting, writing, dancing and singing. With a background in journalism, media, marketing and community service, Monike has been volunteering and supporting people since her teenage years. Her creative and varied experience includes live theatre, improv comedy, film, television, music videos, children’s entertainment, digital content creation, working as a martial arts coach and competing as an amateur fighter.

Her recent work includes playing Cinderella in a live family pantomime, appearing in film and television productions, performing live improv and hosting children’s parties as a variety of colourful characters.

Phoenix is a true passion project, built from the heart. Monike and the team genuinely believe it has the potential to make a positive difference in our community and create an impact that can be felt for generations to come.

Helping others has always been an important part of who Monike is. Phoenix is a continuation of that commitment.

Monike founded Phoenix not because she believes she has all the answers, but because she believes everyone deserves a welcoming place to explore their creativity, discover their potential and feel that they BELONG.

Danny E.

Danny E. is the Co-founder of Phoenix Arts Community Hub. By trade, I'm a science guy: spreadsheets, logic, data, the "let's be precise about absolutely everything" crowd. By accident, I became a theatre person. There was no five-year plan, just a pantomime called Cinderella, a role as the Herald, and a level of stage fright that made my brain briefly forget how English works. I said yes anyway, mostly out of spite toward my own nerves, and never really left. Before any of that, I spent years dragging myself into Toastmasters meetings and business workshops, forcing myself to speak in front of humans under no obligation to listen. Turns out that was training for something bigger: falling completely, unreasonably in love with community theatre. What hooked me wasn't the spotlight, it was everything around it. The backstage chaos. The mismatched group of people who somehow become a team. The fact that theatre doesn't care how old you are, where you're from, or whether you can hold a tune, it just needs you to show up and contribute. I've done that from both sides of the curtain now, on stage, behind it, and everywhere in between, usually solving whatever problem nobody else wanted to touch. Outside the theatre, I coach football - head coach at Melrose Park in Sydney, working with kids from every kind of background, including young refugees finding their footing in a new country. Different pitch, same lesson: give people a fair go and they'll surprise you every time. I've carried that same instinct into volunteering across a few countries and organisations too, because apparently I can't say no to a good cause with a whiteboard and a mission statement. Comedy and improv are where I feel most like myself - nothing beats a room full of strangers laughing together, or a good improv scene gloriously going sideways. All of that led here: building Phoenix Arts Community Hub, a place for young people and families to create, belong and grow - hopefully with a lot less stage fright than I started with. Still learning. Still finding my feet. Still not entirely sure how I ended up doing theatre. But very glad I did.

Maria is a founding parent and passionate community volunteer with extensive experience in community sport, coaching, inclusion and advocacy. She supports governance, community engagement, athletes and families, with a strong focus on breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for young people of all abilities to participate, belong and build confidence. As a mum of three, Maria understands the importance of welcoming spaces where young people can be themselves and pursue what they enjoy. At Phoenix Arts Community Hub, she brings together her experience as a parent, coach, volunteer and inclusion advocate to support families, strengthen community connections and help every young person feel valued, included and encouraged to discover what they can achieve
